Sat 21st June 5pm – 8.30pm

Tallebudgera Valley Community Centre

Jason Machado has been performing Música Popular Brasileira or MPB, as the genre is widely known, for over 20 years on the eastern coasts of both Australia & Brazil. With voice and 7-string guitar he performs a selection of the wonderful songs from Brazil – a country famous for its extraordinary music and its sensuous, melodious language. Jason will have four percusionists performing with him on this night.
“...chilled and sophisticated providing an opportunity for couples to slow dance... perhaps a Brazilian-style answer to the Buena Vista Social Club” Rachel Longford – The Courier Mail.

MPB is one of the greatest examples of cultural fusion as expressed through music and song, a broad style drawing from a huge array of global sounds, such as European Salon music, African Lundu, jazz, samba (lots of samba!), rock and reggae. Music that is positive, uplifting and joyful – utilizing melody, harmony and rhythm in a unique way. Let the JASON MACHADO GROUP take you on a musical journey through the exotic world of MPB - Música Popular Brasileira.

Support act: Yemanja

Australian Soprano, Anita Fernandes and Brazilian 7 String Classical Guitarist, Edson Gazani are innovative composers and captivating performers, and could even be described as musical anthropologists, uniting the music and culture of today's diverse global community with all the zest and appeal of today's popular music.

Yemanjá have recently self produced their Second Album "Tales from Jupiter" of which they recorded in Brazil 2007, featuring a line up of renowned Brazilian producers and artists.
